NASHVILLE — A Nashville police officer was hit by an off-road vehicle Saturday afternoon, and police are searching for the suspect.
Special Events Sergeant John Bourque was treated for minor injuries Saturday evening after being “struck and dragged by one of an estimated 100 dirt bikes, motorcycles, ATVs, and four wheelers that illegally took over Broadway Saturday,” a news release from the Metro Nashville Police Department said.
The suspects fled the scene after striking another unrelated vehicle and then striking the officer, according to Lt. Johnnie Melzoni.
“These individuals were weaving in and out of moving and parked vehicles, endangering motorists and pedestrians, when Sergeant Bourque was struck,” the release said.
Police said the suspects remained at large, and that they are seeking help from the public to identify them.
Anyone who recognizes the driver from the photos released by MNPD is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-743-7436. Tips submitted to Crime Stoppers can stay anonymous, and also qualify for a cash reward.
Bourque is a 22-year MNPD veteran.
