Bebe Rexha was ready to feel like a princess at the Grammys after struggling to find a designer who would sign on to dress her.
She wore a billowing multilayer tulle red dress that featured a plunging neckline, paired with sparkling jewelry. People and ET reported her show-stopper was by Monsoori.
“I was in the studio one day and one of my friends called me – and he’s a stylist – and he told me that a lot of designers, we couldn’t get them because I didn’t fit in the show sizes, which is a 0 to 2. And I was really upset and I decided to make a video,” she told E! cameras in a pre-taped segment that aired during the network’s red carpet coverage on Sunday.
On Jan. 21, Rexha made waves when she revealed via Instagram that designers didn’t want to dress her due to her size.

“So I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it’s, like, the coolest thing ever,” Rexha said in the video. “And a lot of times artists will go and talk to designers and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet. … So I had my team hit out a lot of designers and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big.”
The “I’m a Mess” singer, 29, explained she’s a size 6-8, and, “If a size 6-8, is too big, then I don’t know what to tell you. Then I don’t want to wear your (expletive) dresses. ’Cause that’s crazy. … You’re saying that all the women in the world that are size 8 and up are not beautiful, and they cannot wear your dresses.”
Rexha said on the red carpet the response has been outrageous, with many A-list designers since offering to help her out.
“It’s been amazing. I didn’t expect it. I just did the video because I was really heartbroken, and it, like, bummed me out. … They said I was too big or fat, and I love my body and I just want other girls to love their bodies.”

Rexha told E! cameras she wanted to turn heads on the red carpet. She was shown trying on several glamorous gowns.
“I want to have, like, a Cinderella moment,” she dished. “I can’t believe that I am finally nominated for a Grammy – two Grammys. To me, this is my Cinderella moment.”
Rexha is up for Grammy Awards for new artist and country duo/group performance.
“At the end of the day, I truly believe it’s what’s inside and the music that you’re making and the art that you’re making,” she said.
Rexha also opened up about her personal life while speaking to USA TODAY on the red carpet.
“I’ve never had a Valentine,” she said regarding her plans for Valentine’s Day later this week. But she is happy to celebrate with her pals.
“Oh, yeah. We’ll go to dinner, come over to my house and watch a romantic comedy and eat pizza and just play board games. Very chill. I don’t mind not having a Valentine! Because if it’s not the right one, I don’t want to waste my time.”
